Actions will have created dreams and not the reverse, or something

Artificial Paradise, Six Second Gallery, London, 2016

A wonky tree-like plasterboard structure supporting a monitor.

The screen showed a series of short reversing loops from Groupe Dziga Vertov’s 1969 Maoist western, Le Vent d'Est, and Robert Enrico’s identically titled 1993 tale of rebellious anti-communist Soviet troops stranded in post-WWII Europe, interrupted by a mirrored pair of hollowed-out wolf heads. The clips scrolled vertically down, one pixel row per frame. The gap between the wolf heads revealed itself to be the origin of the shape of the supporting tree.
